The images below represent a sample of clients' work in group or individual art therapy sessions in a variety of different settings.

'Pain Breaking Through' - Soft-pastel image by a 73-year-old man whose bowel cancer gave him constant episodes of intense pain. In the art therapy sessions he found relief from pain and depression.

'Migraine Memories' - A 48-year-old woman with breast cancer would suffer migraine annually on the anniversary of the death of her still-born daughter. In the art therapy session she was able to find resolution to her grief.

'The Lion's Paw' - This soft-pastel sketch started as a landscape. The effects of cancer and its treatments ended up depicted as a shipwreck by the 44-year-old woman who used the sessions to explore her frustration and rage at the destruction the disease caused.

'Pheonix Rising' - This dramatic painting reflected this 37-year-old womans joy at the news her disease was in remission.

'My Constant Companion' - A 28-year-old man with AIDS wanted the art therapist to see this image of dread he carried with him. Acrylic on canvas.

'Dolphins Leap for the Fun of It' - The dolphin became an apt motif for this 12-year-old girl with cystic fibrosis who enjoyed every moment in the art therapy room.
